It seems that the company’s management was reminded of the acronym MPS and possibly going to blow away the dust from it.
Mazda refused to boosted engines for the “third” of the family a few years ago, focusing on advanced atmosferici from the family SkyActiv. However, the return of turbocharged engines is still there: presumably, the Mazda3 will get this powertrain in the next year, moreover, that the version of the track TCR it already is.
Jalopnik cites as evidence screenshots of the dealer documents containing information about the product line of Mazda 2021, the year – among them, allegedly, there is a mention of turbo Mazda3, both in sedan and five-door version.
Studied in detail the documentation at Jalopnik came to a couple conclusions: first, the turbo will only be offered in conjunction with all-wheel drive, and secondly, the only transmission will be automatic.
At this stage this information should be taken with a grain of salt: the official confirmation from the manufacturer about the return to the turbo engine has not yet been received. It is possible that the expansion of the engine range Mazda3 – if it indeed happens – will be a major part of the planned restyling of the model.
