Mazda starts selling revamped Mazda3 in Japan

In Japan, the updated Mazda3 was revealed. The popular subcompact received more power and dynamics, as well as an updated suspension and additional technologies.

For the domestic Japanese market, which often receives new technologies ahead of other markets, a major suspension upgrade will bring improved dynamics by “improving the performance of helical springs and shock absorbers in all variants. According to the Japanese automaker, the suspension of the updated Mazda3 better suppresses uneven road surfaces and improves not only handling, but also driving comfort.

Mazda 3 models equipped with the 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-X engine also get a performance boost, increasing power from 180 horsepower and 224 Nm of torque to 190 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque.

It is claimed that a software update for models equipped with the same electrified powertrain will improve the responsiveness and controllability of the throttle. Interestingly, Mazda Japan States that it can make the software update available to owners of existing SKYACTIV-X cars for free.

There is no mention of any changes to the exterior or interior styling of the upgraded Mazda3, but as it became known, the adaptive cruise control system in the models of the 2021 model year has become more intuitive and able to work smoothly.
