Representative office of Mazda in the USA, officially announced the autumn start of sales of the new compact crossover MX-30. The US version has a 144 hp engine.

The Mazda MX-30 is a new addition to the Japanese brand in the growing electric crossover segment. The car will first go on sale in California (USA) this fall. The automaker has yet to announce official pricing.

The car has rear doors that open in the opposite direction, reminiscent of the design of the Mazda RX-8.

Inside, a minimalist interior with a 7-inch infotainment screen.

The short center console includes a gear lever and a dial for infotainment.

The MX-30 is powered by a 144 horsepower (271 Nm) electric motor. It drives the front wheels. Energy comes from a 35.5 kWh battery with a useful capacity of 30.5 kWh. The company does not offer EPA range estimates yet, but it says batteries can be charged up to 80% in 36 minutes with a DC fast charger.

The European version of the crossover for the European market, with the same engine, reaches 100 km / h in 9.7 seconds. The combined cruising range (WLTP standard) is 200 kilometers. However, the estimate of the cruising range made by the foreign publication InsideEVs in cold weather showed a much lower number.

“The battery-powered MX-30 will mark the launch of additional electrified Mazda models, including a serial plug-in hybrid with a rotary generator for the MX-30, a plug-in hybrid for our new large platform and a traditional hybrid. Mazda fans can look forward to excellent driving dynamics and beautiful design across all models, ”said Jeff Guyton, President of Mazda North American Operations.
