Mazda will offer the first electric car and plug-in hybrids in early 2020-ies

In a recent interview with Automotive News Europe, the Executive Director of Mazda Akira Marumoto, shared the company’s plans to reduce emissions of its cars in Europe.

The head of the company noted that the main role in this will play the new Mazda products, mainly the first electric car company which will appear in 2020, as well as several hybrid models, production of which is focused on 2021 or 2022.

It is known that in 2017 Mazda organized with Toyota and Denso joint venture called the EV Common Architecture Spirit Co Ltd to develop electric mobility technologies. Marumoto confirmed that his company is working on the architecture of the EV with Toyota, which also works in this direction with another Japanese brand, however the first electric car company, which debuts next year, will ride on its own platform Mazda.

Interestingly, in the framework of the features of hybrid technology Mazda will use the rotary engine to recharge the battery, this will be the first application of such a motor as a magnifier of the range for electric cars.

Recall, Mazda plans to produce by 2030, only hybrids and electric vehicles.
