The company Mazda will present its first production model with a fully electric powertrain in 2020. On this edition of Automotive Newsрассказал the head of the Japanese company Akira Marumoto.
“First we’ll run the engines family SkyActive-X, and in 2020 will be the first Mazda with a fully electric units. Finally, in 2021 or 2022 we will release a hybrid model with the possibility of charging batteries from a household outlet,” said Marumoto.
According to preliminary data, the first electric Mazda will become a fully independent model, not a “green” version of an existing car. It is assumed that the technologies and systems that will be used in the motor, will develop together with Denso.
As for hybrids, they will create on the basis of one of the engines of the new family SkyActive-X. In this motor the air-fuel mixture can be ignited in the cylinder during the compression process, as occurs in diesel power units. In the SkyActive engines-X will use traditional spark plugs, which will be triggered at high loads.
