McLaren Group sells Applied division

The McLaren Group announced the sale of the McLaren Applied division, which develops new technologies, as well as their implementation in various areas of business, sports and everyday life.

The new owner of the division is the UK-based investment firm Greybull Capital. It is clarified that the transaction, the amount of which is not disclosed, will not affect the operational activities of McLaren Applied.

The McLaren Group has decided to divest the McLaren Applied division following the development of new strategic plans to strengthen the company’s supercar business and participation in leading racing series.

In 2020, amid the pandemic, McLaren faced an acute shortage of funds, but thanks to third-party investments and a deal to sell and lease back the Technology Center, the manufacturer was able to stay afloat.

On the eve of the McLaren company presented a hardcore convertible 765LT Spider. The novelty, which is based on the 720S Spider, will be released in a limited edition of 765 units. The price tag is 310.5 thousand pounds (approximately $ 432,000 at the current exchange rate).
