Photos taken in Romania have been published on the web. The footage captured the prototypes of the seven-seater Dacia Duster (in Ukraine, the model is sold under the Renault brand), covered with disguise. It is expected that the extended version of the SUV with the attachment Grand, which is currently being tested, will be presented before the end of this year.
The seven-seat Dacia Duster project has existed since 2017. However, until now the Romanian company has not released such a modification. Probably, the creation of the prototype of the model was influenced by the increased popularity of crossovers. In addition, the Dacia Lodgy MPV has left the brand’s lineup.
Dacia Duster Grand will receive an extended wheelbase, thanks to which the dimensions of the model will be 4500 millimeters in length. In addition, engineers have increased the rear overhang of the car, so passengers in the third row will be able to count on comfortable seating. The seven-seater Duster is essentially a cross-wagon equipped with vertical taillights.
The engine range of the elongated Duster will include, familiar from the younger model, a 1.5-liter diesel with 110 horsepower, as well as a 150-horsepower 1.3-liter gasoline turbo engine. In addition, for the Grand-version can offer a liter “turbo-triple”, the return of which is 100 horsepower. The station wagon will be equipped with a 6-speed “mechanics” and a variator.
The Dacia Duster Grand is currently being tested in Romania. The premiere of the extended station wagon will take place before the end of 2021.
In mid-January, the Romanian brand Dacia presented a teaser for the future Bigster crossover, which will surpass the Duster in size. The new model will be part of the company’s development strategy called Renaulution.
