Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall of about 5 thousand wagons E-Class with a spoiler that can detach during driving
The company Mercedes-Benz announced the recall in the U.S. more than 4.7 thousand wagons E-Class, including AMG E63 S “charged” versions. The reason for the service of the action was potentially faulty rear spoiler, which during movement can fly with mounts and create a danger for other traffic participants.
The investigation of the National administration of safety of traffic of the USA (NHTSA) showed that spoilers could settle out of compliance with applicable technical requirements. In NHTSA noted that if there is a risk of detaching element, the driver first has to hear a rattling sound in the rear.
Recall that Mercedes-AMG’s E63 the new generation made its debut in 2017. “Charged” wagon received a four-liter V8 engine with two turbines, which replaced the previous 5.5-liter engine. The unit develops 612 HP and 850 Nm of torque.
The engine allows the wagon to accelerate from standstill to first “hundred” for 3.5 seconds and its top speed is limited to 250 km per hour. Surcharge electronic limiter has been moved up at around 300 km per hour.
