A competitor to the BMW 3-Series was completely redesigned and now equipped with the technology of Autonomous driving and electrified propulsion systems.
After a sharp drop in sales of C-Class in recent years because of the universal gravitation of buyers to SUVs, the German manufacturer decided to equip the fifth-generation model with new technologies that should receive the next S-Class. The new C-Class, codenamed W206 will challenge the recently updated Audi A4 and new BMW 3-Series is already in 2021.
As evidenced by recent prototypes spotted on tests in photorename, the design of the new C-Class is a clear evolution of style, traceable to the current model. The starting point for the new C-class is the Mercedes MRA platform (Modular Rear Architecture). It offers a number of advantages in comparison with the earlier version of the “trolley”. Thus, the novelty supports more advanced electrical architecture, which is equipped with a 48-volt system.
The design of the MRA uses a front suspension with double wishbone and multi-link rear suspension with adaptive damping, which, as a rule, will be offered as standard for most markets, including the UK.
In addition to the existing model range of the Mercedes plans to release a new competitor to the Audi A4 Allroad at the model’s face C-Class All Terrain. The novelty will differ a new design with unique bumpers and fender flares, increased crinsom and reinforced protection of the bottom. The engine range for the C-Class is the fifth generation will consist mainly of four-cylinder petrol and diesel fuhtufnjv with a choice of mild hybrid functions EQ Boost EQ Power in combination with a starter-generator or motor.
Despite the emphasis on efficiency, the automaker will also release the modifications C43 and C63. The 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder petrol engine C43 will get a mild hybrid technology, but the C63 will be powered by an updated version of a modern 4.0-litre petrol V8 power up to 550 HP
In an effort to make the new C-Class the most advanced car in its class, Mercedes will present the latest features of automated driving. Among them is a new feature Pilot Drive autopilot the third level. Due to the fact that debuting in the seventh generation S-class in 2020, it will allow the car to move without human intervention at speeds of up to 130 km/h on long distances.
To maximize these features, the new interior of the C-Class will be inspired by the earlier Concept of EQ. It will feature large digital displays, which will appear as the instruments and infotainment features, and new touch controls in a less bulky dashboard.
