The novelty will appear on the Indian market in October this year.
The Indian MG Astor differs from its predecessor by a radiator grille with divergent beams, other bumper trims, and a pattern of instruments (a 7-inch color screen is adjacent to digital scales). From the equipment there is climate control, a panoramic roof, as well as an electric driver’s seat and an autopilot of the second level MG Pilot. The Astor is reported to be the first compact crossover SUV with such an “autopilot” in the Indian market.
One of the main distinguishing features of the new MG Astor crossover is the voice assistant, which was not only integrated into the standard media system, but also materialized as a separate display on the “crown” of the front panel. They drew eyes on the display, and put simple “facial expressions” and additional symbols into the program. This system helps to manage the minor functions of the car, does online searches, and can also read the latest news.
The engines of the new item are the same as those of the Chinese model MG ZS, but they lost a little in power. The basic naturally aspirated engine 1.5 (110 hp) is aggregated with a manual transmission or a variator, and the turbo unit 1.3 (140 hp): only with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The crossover is only front-wheel drive. Astor will be assembled locally in India, and the new product will be on sale in October.
