The debut of the most powerful and fastest production MINI in history is scheduled for 2020. Now the novelty is finishing tests on the old Nurburgring. The results are encouraging.
In 2013, the hot hatch MINI John Cooper Works GP passed the 21-kilometer circle route of the legendary “Nordschleife” in 8 minutes and 23 seconds, sliding in the table of records Lotus Exige S, Jaguar XKR and Audi RS4. However, the Mini was not going to rest on our laurels. The new JCW GP, whose debut will take place next year, have already learned to deal with the “Northern Loop” in less than eight minutes. While finishing the test continues!
New John Cooper Works GP will be the most powerful and fastest production MINI in history. Under the hood of the crazy hatch – the latest row “four” 2.0 TwinPower Turbo (this engine is, for example, the BMW M35i X2), outstanding 306 HP and 450 “Newtons”. Traditionally, the GP version will receive an exclusive aerodynamic bodykit. Cars will be released in a limited edition: plans to build only 3,000 copies.
To date, an absolute record “Nordschleife” belongs to the prototype Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo: the pilot of the championship WEC Timo Bernhard did it in 5:to 19.55. Championship of production cars for nearly a year to hold Lamborghini Aventador LP770-4 SVJ and Italian driver Marco Mapelli (6:44,97). The new JCW GP with a score just under eight minutes, finds himself in the company of such cars as the Dodge Viper SRT-10, Porsche 911 Turbo (996) and BMW M5 Competition in the back of F10.
