The Australian independent organization ANCAP has announced the results of the crash test of the Mitsubishi Express van. As a result, the model received a safety score of zero. This is the lowest rating for a vehicle in Australian test history. Today, ANCAP has a 28-year history of crash testing.
Recall that the Mitsubishi Express van returned to the Australian market in 2020 after a seven-year absence. Experts say that this car lacks almost all modern security systems. Thus, ANCAP experts estimated the safety of adult passengers of the Express van only at 55%. In addition, in three out of four test collisions, a high risk of chest injury was recorded for the driver of the car. Pedestrian protection was rated at 40%.
“Mitsubishi recently introduced the Express to our market, but its performance does not meet today’s safety criteria. Everyone knows that Mitsubishi can make vehicles with a high level of safety, and we urge them to accelerate the adaptation of these features to the Express van, ”said ANCAP CEO Karla Horweg.
