Mitsubishi unveils new Airtrek crossover

The Japanese brand’s new electric model debuted at the Chongqing Auto Show, Autohome.com reports. The truth is that the appearance is presented only on official teasers.

The new model is not a product of the headquarters in Japan. Airtrek was developed by a joint venture GAC – Mitsubishi, therefore it uses non-Japanese units.

At the heart of the car is the architecture and body from the Chinese electric car GAC Aion V, which is considered premium in China. Almost the only change will be the new exterior, made in the already traditional X-style. The lanterns-boomerangs, which give off “Chinese”, stand out a little from the general composition.

But the interior is made in a new design for the brand. The front panel is made in a rather minimalistic spirit, there is nothing superfluous, even the air ducts were tried to fit into the overall composition in such a way that they are an aesthetic continuation of the straight lines of the interior. The role of the virtual panel will be taken over by a huge central touchscreen display. There is also an LCD screen in front of the driver that displays all the necessary information. The only standard Mitsubishi part here is the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

As a power plant, as we said earlier, one electric motor will act, which develops 184 horsepower. The torque is 350 Nm. The crossover will be equipped with two batteries of different capacities to choose from. Their performance is not disclosed, but the power reserve is known – 500 and 600 kilometers. Representatives of the brand promise that the model will go into production in the second half of this year.
