The Ford Mustang Mach-E crossover, which until now has been produced exclusively in Mexico, is now registered in China as well, with electric vehicles rolling off the assembly line of the Changan Ford joint venture in Chongqing this week. The first buyers in China will receive locally assembled cars by the end of this year.
China now accepts orders for rear-wheel drive Mustang Mach-E with standard and extended batteries (in the latter case, you can choose the Premium trim), as well as for the all-wheel drive Mach-E GT First Edition, the twin-engine power plant of which develops 488 hp. and 860 Nm – like the Mach-E GT Performance Edition for the US market. This is enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.65 seconds. The cruising range of the longest-range version – with a single electric motor and a senior battery pack – was estimated at 619 kilometers according to the test method adopted in the PRC.
The equipment of the Chinese “electromustangs” is not inferior to the American ones. So, already in the basic configuration there is a package of driving assistants, providing the second level of autonomy (L2). Those who sign the contract before the end of the year are promised an extended vehicle and battery warranty, roadside assistance and other bonuses.
The Mustang Mach-E in China will be sold through a separate network of showrooms specializing in electric vehicles. For starters, Ford plans to open 25 locations in major cities across the country. In five years, there will be more than a hundred of them.
At the end of last month, there was a rumor that Ford was going to slightly improve the electric crossover. In particular, the consumed capacity of the base battery will be increased from 68 to 70 kilowatt-hours, and the older one – from 88 to 91 kilowatt-hours.
