SWM is a Chinese manufacturer with Italian roots. In the 70s and 80s, the brand produced off-road motorcycles, and in the 2010s it was bought by the Chinese giant Shineray. Since then, the company has been active in the Asian and European markets. The lineup mostly consists of supermoto, enduro and small-volume road builders.
SWM engines are mostly single cylinder and not overly powerful. All are manufactured at the Shineray plant in Chongqing, China. At EICMA 2021, the manufacturer showed a new two-cylinder engine, which they plan to equip new dual sports and naked, but this is all about the future. In the meantime, SWM has released two new VA-series motorcycles (named after the province of Varese, where SWM is headquartered).
VA 125 is equipped with a 125 cc engine, and VA 400 – 400 cc, respectively. These engines are proven as they are installed on other models. The VA series features a tubular trellis frame, 41mm inverted fork and preload adjustable mono shock.
SWM VA motorcycles are aimed at beginners, but still have some top-end components: Brembo radial brakes, ABS, LED optics, color LCD tidy.
New items will appear in European dealerships in early 2022.
