In April, the Honda brand introduced the eleventh generation Civic sedan, and on June 23, a hatchback model will join it. For the first time, the five-door will be produced by an enterprise in Greensburg, Indiana (USA), and unlike the sedan, it will also be offered with a manual transmission. Car deliveries to dealerships across America will begin before the end of this year.
The exterior of the new Honda Civic hatchback has not yet been revealed. The company has published only a teaser, but even that one is uninformative. However, serious differences with the sedan in this respect should not be expected, which means that the five-door will be made according to the same patterns: this is a squat body silhouette with an elongated hood and a lowered glazing line, and an increased rear track, and fully LED optics.
The interior of the car will be inspired by the European line of the company Honda. It will be made in a new way for the brand: with a narrow front panel, a free-standing center screen, hidden ventilation deflectors and better materials for interior trim. New for the Civic will be a 10.2-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen media system and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
The power line of the Honda Civic sedan consists of two units: “aspirated” 2.0 (160 forces and 187 Nm) and a 1.5-liter “turbo four” (182 forces and 240 Nm), which now has a VTEC phase change system only at the inlet, but also at the outlet. Most likely, the hatchback will receive the same engines. Unlike the four-door, the novelty will be sold with a six-speed “mechanics”. The sedan only offers a CVT with Step-Shift, which simulates physical shifts under hard acceleration.
