Bentley has unveiled the most dynamic convertible in its history – the Continental GT Speed Convertible based on the third generation car. The flagship open-top model features a six-liter W12, as well as a retractable roof that can be folded in less than 19 seconds at 50 kilometers per hour.
Bentley is positioning the Continental GT Speed Convertible as a reference convertible. It is equipped with a W12 6.0 biturbo engine, the output of which has been increased to 659 horsepower and 900 Nm, and an eight-speed “robot” with two clutches. The convertible accelerates to “hundreds” in 3.7 seconds – 0.1 seconds faster than the usual Continental GTC. The maximum speed is 335 kilometers per hour. The all-wheel drive British flagship was equipped with active air suspension, a 48-volt electromechanical roll suppression system, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Like the base convertible, the Speed version has a Z-fold roof that can be folded in 19 seconds at 50 kilometers per hour with the push of a button. The soft top is available in seven color options, including a modern take on British tweed, a traditional wool fabric. The exterior of the GT Speed Convertible features a tinted radiator grille, chrome Speed logo on the front fenders and 22 ” wheels in dark tint.
The exclusive interior of the Continental GT Speed Convertible is crafted from a combination of leather and faux suede. Customers have access to 15 basic and 11 additional trim options. The first convertibles are expected to deliver to American and European customers in the third quarter of 2021. The cost of the model has not yet been disclosed.
At the end of March, Bentley unveiled the most dynamic civilian vehicle in the brand’s more than 101 years of history. The new Continental GT Speed accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 335 kilometers per hour.
