Western publications have published photos of the tests the “charged” performance compact crossover Ford Puma ST. The official presentation of the new items American to be held this year.

In July last year, Ford unveiled the new crossover under the name Puma, which had previously been assigned to a stylish three-door hatchback. The new SUV will be a more powerful version of the Puma ST – representatives of the company told about it before the presentation of its new products. It is noteworthy that the “spy” photos of a prototype high-performance crossover appeared even before we officially introduced the regular version of the car. Today we have pictures of the test sample Puma ST which had no camouflage, giving us our first look at the body and optics innovations.

The absence of camouflage reveals a lot of what we expected to see. For example, we see a black “lip” of the front spoiler and can see the big intercooler hiding behind the front bumper.

Rear has dual exhaust pipes and a larger roof spoiler. Inside Puma ST looks very similar to the regular version of the crossover, with the infotainment screen stuck on the dashboard, and controls the HVAC over the dashboard. Puma ST also has Recaro seats and big brakes.

Puma ST should get the same engine that the Ford Fiesta ST. We are talking about 1.5 liter three-cylinder engine with a turbocharger. Fiesta ST it develops 198 horsepower (290 Nm). Power must be routed to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox as in the Fiesta ST. While the Fiesta ST can accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, with a bigger, heavier Puma ST should be a bit slower.

The official presentation of the high-performance Ford Puma ST will be held this summer. The novelty will go on sale as a crossover 2021 model year.
