Electric crossover Ford Mustang Mach-E will become the progenitor of a whole family of electric cars based on the style of the original Mustang. According to rumors, the company is already discussing a new model, more compact and accessible, which will be based on the matrix MEB from electrodata Volkswagen ID.3.
Established this year, the Alliance Volkswagen Ford had initially assumed joint development of commercial vehicles. But in the summer the automakers announced new agreements: Ford will have access to modular electrical platform MEB and it by 2023 build electric car for the European market. It is unclear whether the relative Mustang Mach-E or a brand new model.
The publication Auto Express, citing global Director of Ford’s electrification Ted Cannis, claims that “younger” Mustang Mach-E also will be based on the MEB. Because of the architectural features of its silhouette will not be as rapid as the older model, but it is “definitely going to be a crossover.” He can come in versions with rear or all-wheel drive; with motors of different power and several battery options. But will this model of the Mustang nameplate, will depend on the success of Mach-E.
Now not everyone is happy with the use of the logo and signboard Mustang electric crossover. American journalist and expert on the history of the original model Jimmy Dimor even created a petition to remove the logos of the iconic pony car with the car. He believes that the manufacturer made a “huge mistake”, because the very concept of the electric vehicle does not correspond to the initial idea of the Mustang.
Do you think that Mustang Mach-E – real Mustang?
