European independent organization Euro NCAP has published the results of new crash tests, in which five cars took part. So, engineers checked the safety of two Genesis models (premium Hyundai brand), Citroen C4, as well as BMW 4-Series coupe and convertible.
Thus, the new generation Genesis G80 business sedan earned the highest rating (five stars). The car earned 91% for the protection of adults and children, 91% for driver assistance systems that ensure safe driving, and 77% for the test that determines how dangerous a car can be for pedestrians.
The readings taken from the mannequins showed the risk of injury to the driver’s chest in case of a frontal impact on a moving barrier. For pedestrians, the areas of headlights and car pillars pose a great danger.
As for the Genesis GV80 crossover, it also received the highest score in the crash test. The experts rated the safety of adults at 91%, children at 87%, other road users at 66%, and put the electronic “assistants” at 88%. The main gripe is that in a rear impact, there is a high likelihood of serious neck injury for the passenger. Experts noted the good work of almost all auxiliary systems.
The BMW 4-Series Coupe and Convertible have earned five safety stars each. The crossover Citroen C4, which earned only four stars, coped with the task a little worse.
