The current generation of Hyundai Santa Fe was not in demand among South Korean buyers. In addition, after the debut of the new KIA Sorento, sales of the soplatform crossover decreased even more. In this regard, there is a high probability that for successful competition, the next iteration of Santa Fe can be launched earlier than planned.
The fourth generation Hyundai Santa Fe debuted in the summer of 2020. After that, South Korean dealers sold a total of 57,578 crossovers. For comparison, the more expensive Palisade was purchased by 64,791 customers.
In addition, over the past December, Santa Fe lost in sales to the updated Tucson, which was purchased 14,443 times against 10,475 Santa Fe cars. However, the advantage of the Junior crossover is the use of soft hybrid technologies. In South Korea, when buying such cars, there are tax incentives.
At the same time, the main competitor of the Santa Fe, which is the KIA Sorento, sold 77,000 copies over the past year. And if the South Korean brand could still put up with the lag of the model among its own line, then a pure lost fight to the nearest competitor may encourage the company to speed up the release of the fifth generation of the crossover. It is assumed that the next Hyundai Santa Fe may debut as early as the end of 2021.
