On the official website of Chevrolet, new information about the eighth generation of the sports car Corvette – July 18 model will debut under the name Stingray. This console was used from 1963 to 1976, and then was revived in the seventh generation.
The first in the history of the manufacturer of the Corvette Stingray was introduced in 1963 – when the market came the second generation of the sports car. The console has gone through 13 years, but in 2014, the Americans decided to revive it with the new, eighth generation, it will appear again in the lineup. A more powerful version of the model, among which may be hybrid is likely to retain the current naming scheme and will receive the prefix Z06 and ZR1, although there is a probability of occurrence of the alternative name “Zora”.
The official debut of new products scheduled for July 18. So far, the only confirmed information is the transition of a sports car from front engine to mid-engine layout. It is expected that the car will get upgraded aspirated engine V8, outstanding around 500 horsepower.
According to GM Authority, in the engine range there will be another motor – twin-turbo V8, which is designed for the top modifications. However, in the framework of the presentation the company will not disclose any data about this engine, since it focuses only on the basic model.
