The Japanese automobile concern Honda is preparing a new mid-size crossover, which is going to be sold in the markets of developing countries. Its production will be set up in India at a plant in Tapukar, where 30% of the capacity is currently unused.
According to unofficial information, the new Honda crossover will be located in the mid-size SUV segment, and it will be based on the platform of the fifth generation of the City budget sedan. So far, the new model has no name and passes in the documents under the factory name 31XA, but it is already known that it will be sold with both 2-row and 3-row interiors.
According to one of the assumptions, the crossover will be named Elevate. The length of the novelty can be about 4.3 meters in a 5-seater version of the cabin layout. In this case, its main competitors will be Hyundai Creta and Skoda Kushaq.
Honda says it will be a completely new model, but it is possible that to some extent the crossover will be associated with the fresh generation of the BR-V SUV, which was recently presented in Indonesia as the N7X concept.
Serial production of new items should begin in 2023.
