New Octavia fails ‘moose test’

Experts of the km77.com publication checked the handling of the Skoda Octavia of the A8 generation.

It is worth recalling that the “moose test” is a test that simulates the driver’s attempt to avoid a collision with a sudden obstacle, which may be, for example, an elk that has run out onto the road. To check the car, first make a sharp turn of the steering wheel to the left, and then to the right. So, the controllability of the car in an extreme situation is checked.

The results of the “elk test” of the latest generation Skoda Octavia liftback (A8) have been published on the YouTube channel km77.com. The vehicle is considered to have passed the test successfully if its speed is at least 77 km / h, but the test liftback was unable to achieve this result.

During the tests, Octavia knocked down two of the three outer cones at a speed of 77 km / h. The model showed the best result at 74 km / h. It is worth noting that even at a lower speed, the car barely fits into the designated corridors. At a speed of 75 km / h, the wheel hits the last cone of the outer dimension on the first maneuver.
