It is reported that the new generation Volkswagen Passat B9 will be a hybrid sedan and station wagon.
The French edition of Auto-moto, citing its own sources, reports that the new Passat B9, whose debut is expected in 2023, will become a hybrid of a sedan and a station wagon. If this information is confirmed, then most likely Volkswagen will follow the example of Citroen, which released the new Citroen C5 X to the Chinese market. This form factor, according to the manufacturer, combines “the elegance of a sedan, the practicality of a station wagon and increased crossover ground clearance.
The new Passat will probably increase slightly in size. The length of the new items will increase from 4.77 to 4.86 meters, and the trunk volume due to it will increase to 660 liters. In fact, the new Passat will be able to put an end to the Arteon family, which has not gained popularity in the market.
Volkswagen Passat B9 generation will be offered with a wide range of power plants. Most likely, a 2.0-liter diesel unit will be available, as well as mild-hybrid powertrains and rechargeable hybrids capable of driving up to 100 kilometers on a single charge.
The serial production of the new item should be set up at the Volkswagen plant in Kvasiny, where the full-size Skoda Superb liftback is already being produced.
