A German taxi driver drove one and a half million kilometers in a Tesla Model S. The next frontier is to cover a million miles or 1.61 million kilometers in an electric car.
RBC-Ukraine Auto reports this with a link to InsideEVs.
On January 6, 2022, the old Tesla Model S P85 achieved an impressive 1.5 million kilometers on the odometer. The car belongs to the German Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg, known in the automotive world for his record mileage in Tesla cars.
And this is not surprising, because Hansjörg works as a taxi driver. So, at the end of November 2019, he reached a mileage of one million kilometers on his Tesla, and a year later, a number of 1.2 million kilometers was already lit on the odometer. Previously, he drove a Tesla roadster and covered more than 620,000 km.
As for the current Tesla Model S P85, it did not manage to overcome the record distance without losses. So the factory battery failed after 290 thousand kilometers and was replaced first with a used one, and after a while with a new one.
As for the power plant, over the years of active operation of this Tesla, at least three electric motors were changed, and even before the run of a million kilometers.
There is no information on replacement of other components, but the mileage of this Tesla Model S P85 is the largest currently known. The next goal of the German taxi driver is to reach the milestone of 1 million miles (1.61 million km).
Recall that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an official investigation into Tesla. The reason is that drivers can play video games while the car is moving.
