Hyundai will present the fifth generation Santa Fe cross in mid-2022, that is, six months ahead of schedule. The Korean Car Blog suggests the rush is due to the low sales of the current Santa Fe compared to other Hyundai models and competitors.
The new generation Hyundai Santa Fe, which was initially expected no earlier than 2023, is already in development, according to insiders. At the same time, the current version of the cross appeared on the automotive market only at the beginning of last year: then the cross received a revised appearance in the style of the current Sonata, added in size and got a new 2.5-liter Smartstream engine with 180 horsepower. In Ukraine, this Santa Fe costs from $ 37,100 as of mid-May this year.
However, Hyundai’s management is not satisfied with the sales of the car, The Korean Car Blog found out. For example, over the past year, the updated Santa Fe sold a total of 57.7 thousand cars. This is less than the result of the more expensive Palisade (64.8 thousand cars) and Kia Sorento (77 thousand copies), which took away the title of crossover number one in South Korea from Santa Fe. Hyundai expects demand for the model to fall further as the next generation KIA Sportage enters the automotive market.
