Today, on July 29, sales of the new, second generation Subaru BRZ sports coupe started in Japan. The price of a car starts from 3,080,000 yen (from approximately $ 28,000 at the current exchange rate).

Recall that the presentation of the novelty took place in November 2020. BRZ is built on the upgraded chassis of the previous generation. In terms of the body frame, the car is also partially unified with its predecessor, but its design has been thoroughly redesigned – torsional rigidity increased by 50%.

The length, width and height of the new items are 4265, 1775 and 1311 mm, respectively, the wheelbase is 2575 mm. That is, with the change of generation, the car has become slightly larger. The curb weight, despite the aluminum fenders, roof and hood, has grown by 7.7 kg – up to 1307 kg. However, the weight is redistributed in such a way as to lower the center of gravity. The coupe is fitted with R17 wheels with 215/45 tires, for a surcharge, R18 wheels with 215/40 R18 tires will be available.

The design of the new BRZ is more aggressive than that of the old model: the radiator grille has become wider, the plastic of the panels is more expressive. The roofline has a subtle longitudinal stamping for a “double bubble” feel – a nod to classic racing cars. The air vents in the front fenders are functional, dissipating heat from under the bonnet and wheel arches and directing the flow to the sills – thus creating additional downforce. All lighting equipment is made on LED-elements.

The coupe has a 2.4-liter boxer “aspirated” with a capacity of 228 hp. It works in conjunction with a six-speed “mechanics” or a six-speed “automatic” with paddle shifters.

The basic R configuration with the “mechanics” will cost the buyer 3,080,000 yen (about 28,000 dollars), with the “automatic” – 3,245,000 yen (about 29,600 dollars). The richer S version costs 3,267,000 (approximately $ 29,800) or 3,432,000 yen (approximately $ 31,200), respectively.

R and S versions differ in wheel rim sizes (17 or 18 inches), leather trim, heated front seats and aluminum-look inserts.
