As you know, Volvo is already working on a successor to the full-size crossover XC90. On the eve of the model, the name of which is still unknown, some details were revealed.
According to the British edition “Autocar”, the successor to the XC90 will inherit the appearance from the 2021 Recharge concept car. Its main characteristics were simplicity, conciseness and functionality.
The new full-size crossover Volvo should be based on the modular SPA platform of the second generation. Later, all other models of the Swedish brand, as well as the parent company Geely, will move to this architecture.
If you believe the information of British journalists, the new Volvo XC90 is planned to be sold both in a version with a gasoline engine and an all-electric modification. The electric version will receive a flat floor, minimalistic interior design in the style of a “Scandinavian living room”, as well as short overhangs. The ICE version, on the other hand, will have a configuration with a central tunnel, which is traditional for fuel vehicles. At the same time, there will be no engines in the model lineup.
The electrical performance of the XC90 will receive several versions, the main differences between which will be in the capacity of the battery. In the most expensive versions, the power reserve of the model will be about 500 kilometers.
Volvo has already decided to abandon the XC90 index in the name of the new crossover, so the car will have a separate name. Which one is kept secret for the time being.
The successor to the XC90 will premiere in 2022. The crossover will go on sale in the first quarter of 2023.
The current Volvo XC90 is now available in Ukraine. Prices start at $ 61,200.
