Next-generation Lexus NX spotted on tests for first time

Cross Lexus NX introduced in 2014, has experienced a light update in 2018, and now it is preparing for a full-fledged change of generation. Photospies captured a prototype in camouflage undergoing road tests.

Judging by the photo, the changes to the Lexus NX will be more evolutionary than radical. The silhouette of the car will remain recognizable, and the rear and front optics will become narrower. The radiator grille will retain its original shape, but will increase in size.

In the NX cabin, the update will be more extensive. The main innovation will be a large touchscreen multimedia system, the diagonal of which in the ” top ” versions can stretch up to 14 inches.

The base for the 2nd-generation Lexus NX will be a modified version of the Toyota TNGA-K platform, which the novelty will share with the RAV4. Together with the platform, the car can borrow a gasoline-electric installation from the most powerful RAV4 Prime. It includes a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 177 HP and 2 electric motors-one on each axle. The total power of such an installation reaches 306 horsepower. In addition, the most expensive modification of the NX can get a 3.5-liter V6 engine from Camry.

It is expected that the premiere of the 2nd generation Lexus NX will take place before the end of 2021, and the car will enter the market as a model in 2022.
