Nissan has developed a new turbo kit for the old GT-R

Nissan Motorsports (aka NISMO) released the R3 Turbo Kit on August 18, a turbocharger for the RB26DETT engine

Recall that RB26DETT was produced from 1989 to 2002. The engine was installed on the Nissan Skyline GT-R and Nissan Stagea. This 2.6-liter inline-six from the factory developed 280 horsepower. In later copies, the figure reached 320 hp

The R3 Turbo Kit replaces the R1. Engineers have reconfigured the turbocharger to increase boost pressure at low and medium revs. This allowed for increased torque. In addition, a more even distribution of thrust across the crankshaft revolutions made it easier to meter acceleration both during normal driving on the streets and during races on the track.

With a rebuilt ECU, the new R3 Turbo Kit helps squeeze up to 450 hp out of the RB26DETT. at 7600 rpm and 490 Nm at 4800 rpm.

The price of the R3 Turbo Kit in Japan is 385,000 yen (about $ 3,500).

In March, Nissan began producing new body parts for the Skyline GT-R R32. In July at the Japanese BH Auction site, the 2002 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nur coupe set a new cost record: it sold for 60.5 million yen (almost $ 550,700).
