Nissan has introduced a new twin-engined four-wheel drive transmission for electric vehicles

The company promised that it will provide the dynamics of sports cars, as well as predictable handling. A new powertrain called the e-4orce combines the technology of the supercar GT-R and Patrol SUV.

Presentation of the new all-wheel drive electric powertrain the Nissan was part of the exhibition of consumer electronics CES 2020. Twin-engine layout of the e-4orce focuses on the intellectual system of a full drive with unique algorithm of redistribution of torque. According to the manufacturer, the engineers relied on the experience of the production of the supercar GT-R and Patrol SUV.

The novelty has received two electric motors one for each axis. Both act as a generator during regeneration braking. Takao Asami (Asami Takao), a senior Nissan Vice President for research and advanced development, said e4orce “gives drivers more confidence in the car and even more driving experience than ever before.”

“This technology ensures excellent performance of rotation and traction on slippery surfaces, as well as a comfortable ride for all passengers”, he added.

Unfortunately, Nissan did not disclose the characteristics of the new transmission. It is expected that e-4orce will be more powerful than the current version of the Nissan Leaf in e+. It is the most powerful electric car in the company’s portfolio, developing to 214 horsepower.
