Nissan has collected 50,000 orders for the new Magnite subcompact crossover in five months. This model was presented in the fall of 2020, while it is produced and sold only in India. Later, the car will appear in other countries.
Given that Magnite’s main competitor in the Indian market, the Suzuki Vitara Brezza, sold 110,000 units in 2020, Nissan is clearly joining the battle for leadership in the crossover class in the largest market in South Asia.
It is noted that 2/3 of the demand goes to the two most equipped Magnite configurations – XV (has a multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen display and a digital instrument panel) and XV Premium (in addition to the XV set, it has all-round visibility and tire pressure monitoring systems ).
Magnite is currently only sold in India. The crossover is available with a 1.0-liter engine in two boost versions – 72 and 100 hp. The first option is naturally aspirated, the second is turbocharged. The engines are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, and a variator is also available for the 100-horsepower version. Front-wheel drive exclusively.
Nissan Magnite is based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi CMF-A platform. Crossover dimensions: length – 3,998 millimeters (mm), width – 1,758 mm, height – 1,572 mm, distance between axles – 2,500 mm, ground clearance – 205 mm.
The cost of the crossover starts at 560,000 rupees (about $ 7,500 at the current exchange rate). Magnite is manufactured by Nissan in the Indian city of Chennai.
