The Japanese automaker received the award “Chairman of the Association of moving cars” for the development of a production engine with variable compression ratio “VC Turbo”.
“VC Turbo” is the world’s first production powerplant, which allows you to freely change the degree of compression through a unique crank mechanism. In addition to the suppression of the vibration motor with the same crank mechanism, a balancer shaft, which was necessary for those purposes, were excluded, which led one eccentric shaft to operate all cylinders, while maintaining low engine height.
The development of the world’s first VC Turbo engine with variable compression ratio, entered in mass production, has received high praise and was awarded the Japanese society for the promotion of engineering.
Note that awards for the promotion of machines are awarded to the companies, universities or research institutions, as recognized, have made a significant contribution to the development of engineering technologies, promoting research and development and commercialization further development of technology in the automotive industry. The purpose of the award staff working in research and development, is to promote the development of mechanical engineering in Japan.
