Nissan Motor opened orders for its first production electric crossover, the Ariya, in Japan on June 4. At first, the novelty will be sold only in the Limited version. Prices – from 6,600,000 yen (that’s $ 59,900 at the current exchange rate) to 7,900,200 yen ($ 71,700).
Buyers in Japan will be able to choose between the single-engine (rear-wheel-drive) and twin-engine (all-wheel drive) versions of the Nissan Ariya. The standard battery has a capacity of 66 kWh (the range on one charge is 360 km), for both engine versions an optional 91 kWh battery will be offered – with a power reserve of 480 km.
The single-engine version of the Ariya has 218 hp. or 242 hp (depending on the battery selected), the all-wheel drive twin-engine has a combined output of 340 or 394 hp. Acceleration time 0-100 km / h – 7.5-7.6 seconds versus 5.1-5.4, respectively. The maximum speed is limited to 160 or 200 km / h (2WD and 4WD, respectively).
Ariya Limited is equipped with ProPilot 2.0 autopilot system and ProPilot Remote Parking assistant. There are five body colors to choose from. The base includes leather upholstery, panoramic roof, Bose sound system with 10 speakers and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Recall that the Ariya is a compact crossover: taking into account the body length of 4595 mm and the wheelbase of 2775 mm, it is comparable to the Nissan X-Trail. The novelty is built on the modular architecture CMF-EV, designed specifically for “electric trains”.
Cheaper Ariya trims will be available in Japan later this summer. The model will appear in other major markets at the end of the year.
