The second-generation Nissan Leaf is nearing the end of its life cycle, but before that, the electric car will have time to upgrade. Moreover, all changes will be purely external.
The 2022 Nissan Leaf will receive a number of cosmetic updates for the European market before finally leaving the assembly line. And we know that the popular electric car will get a successor. The current generation Leaf was introduced in 2017, and in 2020 the model was upgraded on the technical side. Now it’s up to the design.
The 2022 Nissan Leaf gets new 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels with black accents, an updated Nissan badge on the grille and more. Plus, the electric car offers buyers in Europe two new colors – Universal Blue and Magnetic Blue – which were already available in Qashqai and Ariya. Nissan did not change the interior.
In terms of technology, the EV retains the same 9-inch NissanConnect multimedia touchscreen that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa. Also, the proprietary package of ADAS ProPILOT security assistants will not go anywhere.
The 2022 Leaf is getting two lithium-ion battery options. Standard at 40 kWh and Leaf e+ at 62 kWh, providing a range of up to 385 km on WLTP.
As for the transmission, a single electric motor develops 148 hp. in Leaf and up to 215 hp in Leaf e+. Nothing has been announced about prices yet. The brand may reveal prices closer to the market debut of the updated Leaf.
