Volvo is partnering with Vodafone Automotive to provide its UK customers with the option to install a new tracking device. It will allow you to determine the location of the car with an accuracy of 10 meters.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine Auto with reference to the company’s press service.
Most car thefts in Europe are carried out by intercepting the keyless entry systems signal. Volvo’s new device is quite simple: the system recognizes a small card carried by the driver. If the driver does not have this card, but the car is open and started, the system immediately notifies the cellular operator of an unauthorized opening of the car.
After that, the operator in a matter of minutes contacts the local police services and reports the location of the car by the minute. The system is also able to locate the vehicle with an accuracy of 10 meters. The new service operates in the UK and most of Europe. It can also be forcibly disabled if the vehicle is away from the owner.
The Swedish automaker has estimated the tracking device at $ 780. This amount also includes the cost of installation, mobile charges for the built-in SIM card and a three-year subscription to the service.
