Polestar, the electric sub-brand of Volvo, plans to launch a new crossover with a laconic index 3, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath told Car and Driver.
According to the head of the Polestar brand, the new Polestar 3 electric car will receive a swift silhouette with a sloping roof. The release of the new crossover is scheduled for next year. In terms of its dimensions, the new Polestar 3 will be comparable to the third generation Volvo XC90, on the basis of which it will be developed. At the same time, an electric car from the Polestar brand will be more productive and more luxurious than the XC90 model.
The new Polestar 3 will be offered in two versions: with one electric motor or with two.
“I think this is a very good decision,” Ingenlat said. “The twin-engine version, yes, provides more power and better acceleration, but not all buyers need a firing rocket. Like not all buyers need four-wheel drive. In Norway and Austria, our customers prefer four-wheel drive vehicles, but, for example, in the USA and China there are many buyers who just need one motor. ”
The electric Polestar 3 will be offered exclusively with two rows of seats. Polestar 3 will launch next year at a facility in South Carolina. Next to it will be the Volvo S60, as well as the new generation XC90 crossover.
