The Czech company presented the Skoda Octavia Pro 2021 model year – a version of the model with an increased wheelbase. The car was created for the Chinese market and will be sold there.
Many automakers, whether luxury or mainstream brands, are presenting extended wheelbase versions of their models specifically for the People’s Republic of China. The fact is that cars with increased legroom for rear passengers are of paramount importance for the Chinese. This applies to the Skoda Octavia, which, despite being the most spacious compact car in its class, is still offered in the LWB version.
The new 2021 Octavia Pro is 64mm longer than the regular model. The total length is 4,753 mm. The wheelbase has been increased by 44 mm to 2,730 mm.
Except for the longer rear doors, the design of the car remains unchanged. However, Skoda has developed new front and rear bumpers that are reminiscent of those in the “charged” Octavia RS. The novelty also received a pair of striking exterior colors, combined with black side mirror caps and rims up to 18 inches.
The interior has been completely borrowed from the latest generation Octavia and includes a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an optional 10.25-inch dashboard. Skoda will sell a Pro version in China with a head-up display, offered at an additional cost, along with the latest safety and driver assistance systems already available on the global model.
Under the hood is a 150 horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol engine that drives the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The DSG uses VW Group’s wired gearshift technology, which means the gear selector is small and looks more modern than the massive washer on previous versions.
