Not so long ago, Opel introduced a new generation of the once popular Astra hatchback. During the presentation, a representative of the automaker said that in 2022 the Opel Sports Tourer station wagon will join the regular version, as well as a cross-version of the model with increased ground clearance.
According to 32cars, the Astra Cross will compete directly with the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, Toyota Corolla Trek and Ford Focus Active Wagon. It is possible that following the current trends, the Astra in the Cross version will become a station wagon. Thus, the most plausible version of the novelty will be a car based on the Opel Sports Tourer.
One way or another, but the engine range will migrate to a cross-version from the original Opel Astra. Thus, the novelty will have at its disposal a 1.2-liter petrol turbo engine with 108 or 128 hp, a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 128 hp and two hybrid power plants with 178 and 222 hp. Of course, all variants will be available exclusively with front-wheel drive.
