At first glance, these spy shots look downright boring. The 2022 Jeep Compass has already debuted twice with a light upgrade, first in China and most recently at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show. The photos here show a typical 2022 Compass, but if you look closely, you can see interesting details.
To the outsider, these spy shots are just the new Jeep Compass, but what’s that on the windshield? This is a high voltage decal that identifies the electrical component of the drivetrain.
And this is not a 4xe hybrid because there is only one fuel filler flap. Also, the SUV seen on the transporter has a piece of camouflage covering the badge at the base of the rear hatch.
If this is an electrified but not a plug-in 4xe hybrid, then we are left with a mild hybrid version. According to insiders, Stellantis is currently working on hybrid solutions that are better suited to work with existing powertrain systems. Most likely, the new Jeep Compass is a car with a 48-volt “mild” hybrid, which includes a 1.3-liter turbo engine borrowed from the Renegade.
In the home market, the new Compass is only offered with a standard 2.4-liter petrol four-cylinder engine with 177 horsepower.
Drive – front or full. Transmission – 6АКПП for mono-drive versions and 9АКПП for all-wheel drive. It’s unclear if mild-hybrid versions will be available across the entire Compass lineup or only in certain trim levels. We expect Jeep to announce a plug-in hybrid by the end of 2021.
