“Cityradio” KIA with the change of generations has acquired a stretched version, but such modification will be sold only in China. “Celestial” sedan differs from the global design.
World premiere of the new Optima took place at the end of last year, while the model is only available in Korea where it is called K5. The same index sedan is in China – where sales will start in the near future. At first, the Chinese will offer cars of the Korean Assembly, and in September the market of China will go long term – local production will establish the plant, a joint venture of KIA and Dongfeng.
Chinese “cityradio” revealed a few days ago in the presentation file: from models made in Korea (aka the global version of) this sedan is not only the dimensions (the wheelbase increased by 50 mm to 2900 mm, the length is increased by 75 mm to 4980 mm), but also the design. So, KIA K5 for the PRC replaced the bumpers are differently designed facilities. And now we can consider the interior of the “China” model more – live pictures and another brand the picture posted on the Korean forum Bobaedream.
The main “trick” – from China KIA K5 virtual “tidy” combined with a touchscreen multimedia system (both a diagonal of 12.3 inches), while the “global” sedan separate instrument panel, which “drowned” under the visor. Another model for China additional unit of climate control and the side air vents on the Central tunnel appeared plastic curtain (most likely hidden underneath the Cup holders that are in the salon global sedan exposed).
Gamma motor have stretched “chetyrehdverki” too: Chinese, KIA K5 will be offered with petrol “turbochetverkami” 1.5 and 2.0 with a capacity of 170 and 240 HP respectively. The first engine comes with a seven-speed robotized transmission with two couplings, the second is paired with an eight “automatic”. The global model is based on a two-liter “atmosferica” (from 152 to 194 HP), “turboservice” 1.6 (180 HP) and 2.5 (290 HP, this engine is intended for is not yet represented “hot” sedan GT), plus the hybrid version (total returns – 195 HP). In addition, for the “world” sedan claimed all-wheel drive, while the Chinese version will be front-drive only.
Outside China long-wheelbase KIA K5/Optima are unlikely to appear. The standard model of the new generation to other countries is likely to make it to the end of the year. KIA originally was going to bring the sedan for export markets in the first half of 2020, but plans were foiled by pandemic coronavirus COVID-19.
