A video has appeared on the foreign YouTube channel AutoTopNL, which shows the dynamic acceleration of the Swedish electric car Polestar 1 to a speed of 255 km / h.
2021 is over, as is the production of Polestar 1. The plug-in hybrid coupe was built in just 1,500 units, all of them left-hand drive. Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most unusual vehicles in terms of powertrain, the PHEV was recently taken to the German Autobahn for a top speed test. There is no speed limit on the German autobahns.
Its acceleration characteristics weren’t too bad considering the four-cylinder 2.0-liter petrol unit in the car and the total weight of 2,350 kg.
Of course, the Polestar 1 and its four-cylinder internal combustion engine have a little more, as the internal combustion engine is both supercharged and turbocharged, powered by a pair of rear-mounted electric motors.
The first standalone Polestar model has a total output of 609 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. The electrified sports car drove along a slightly wet German highway and managed to accelerate to a claimed speed of 250 km / h. If it were in electric mode, the Polestar 1 would accelerate to 160 km / h.
While parent company Volvo has been setting a top speed limiter since early 2020, Polestar hasn’t yet.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h was nothing special in this video, despite the massive amount of instant torque generated by a pair of electric motors. Polestar says that it takes 4.2 seconds to accelerate to the first hundred, but in the video, the whole process looked a little slower.
However, the now defunct Polestar 1 is one of the most beautiful GT cars of today and plays an important role for Volvo, launching its subsidiary Polestar. The company’s lineup will expand in the coming years as the Polestar 2 electric liftback will be followed by the US-built Polestar 3 in 2022.
