Polestar shared the first photo of the new crossover the size of the Volvo XC90

Polestar, Volvo’s electric sub-brand, has shared an official photo and information about the new crossover with index 3: the novelty, which is comparable in size to the XC90, will become the flagship of the brand’s lineup. Both the Polestar 3 and the Volvo XC90 will debut within the next year, and if the former is purely electric, the XC90 will also be offered with ICE-based installations. Both models will be assembled at Volvo’s US plant in North Carolina.

Polestar 3 is known to be based on the Volvo SPA2 platform. Unlike the XC90, the electric car will be two-row and will receive two modifications, with one- and two-engine installations. In the official photo, you can see the design of the novelty, even despite the fact that the body is covered with camouflage: the exterior is made with an eye to the Polestar Precept concept of the 2020 model, and the headlights have a characteristic T-shape, which makes them resemble Thor’s hammer.

According to Polestar’s plans for the next few years, by 2025 the company will increase sales from the current 10 thousand cars a year to 290 thousand. The company also intends to expand its presence: the number of countries in which Polestar is represented will grow from 14 to 30.

As for the next generation XC90, according to inside information, the model may be renamed to Embla: this was indirectly confirmed by Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson. The word Embla was borrowed from Scandinavian mythology – that was the name of the first woman on earth.
