Polestar will release a competitor to the Porsche Macan

The chief executive officer of Sweden’s Polestar, Thomas Ingenlat, in an interview with Car Magazine, spoke about another new model – the Polestar 4 crossover. It will enter the market in 2023 and will become a direct competitor to the Porsche Macan, which by that time will lose its internal combustion engine and switch to an electric drive. … “Four” is being prepared for the role of the bestseller Polestar, and it will cost about 55 thousand euros.

According to Ingenlat, Polestar 4, unlike the crossover with the index “3”, will receive a coupe-like silhouette and will be noticeably more compact than the older model, but the reduction in external dimensions will not greatly affect the interior. According to preliminary information, the electric car will be built on the Pure-electric Modular Architecture (PMA) platform, one of the versions of the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) bogie, developed by the parent Geely. The crossover is promised a powerful propulsion system (likely from Polestar 2) and improved aerodynamics. Lotus can help Poulstar with this.

The market debut of the Quartet will take place in 2023. The model will become a direct competitor to the Porsche Macan (by that time the “German” will lose the internal combustion engine and switch to an electric drive) and will cost about 55 thousand euros. At the same time, the Polestar 3, a crossover the size of a Volvo XC90, will debut in 2022, and by the middle of the decade, the Polestar 5 liftback based on the Percept concept will appear in the portfolio of the Swedish brand. The Polestar 4 will be assembled at the Geely plant in Ningbo, China.

In the meantime, Polestar has only two models: the Polestar 1 hybrid and the Polestar 2 liftback on the Volvo CMA platform (Volvo C40 and XC40 Recharge). After updating the software “over the air” twin-engine Polestar 2 Long range Dual motors develop 350 kilowatts (476 forces and 680 Nm) and accelerate to a hundred in 4.4 seconds. There are also versions with one motor: Long range Single motor and Standard range Single motor. Their output is 170 kilowatts (231 hp) and 165 kW (224 hp), respectively. The torque is the same and equal to 330 Nm.

Although it is definitely an unfinished replica, I would be interested in contact details, anyway. Maybe this could be an interesting project.
