English startup Watt Electric Vehicles has shown its first electric car, which is styled in the Porsche 356 1948. The car is called the WEVC Coupe.
The maximum speed of a car weighing about a ton is still unknown, but it picks up the first 100 km / h in five seconds thanks to a 160-horsepower electric motor. The range of the WEVC Coupe reaches 370 km.
The novelty also received a 40 kWh battery. The body of the electric car, although it resembles the Porsche 356, has no elements in common with it. In keeping with the proportions, the startup managed to create branded panels and optimized them in terms of aerodynamics.
The goal of the developers was to combine a completely new platform with the famous silhouette of a German sports car. They used aluminum parts to reduce vehicle weight. The salon is still shown only in a sketch, and it is also decorated in a retro style. The company will demonstrate a full-fledged car at the end of this year, it will cost at least 81.2 thousand pounds.
The Porsche 356 is the very first car of the German brand with a rear-wheel drive system and a rear engine arrangement. The assembly started in 1948 in Austria, then about five dozen units were produced at the plant. Two years later, production was moved to Stuttgart, where production was carried out until the spring of 1965.
