Recently it became known that Porsche stopped production of the last two diesel models — the Macan S Diesel 4S and Panamera Diesel. It was also reported that the company intends to completely abandon the use of diesel engines in their cars. Now Porsche in the person of the head of the sales Department Detlev von platena denied this information.
“We’re not saying abandon diesel engines, — said a top Manager of the publication Automotive News Europe. – We plan to add such a motor in the range of Cayenne and maybe the Macan too. For crossovers diesel still makes sense, because buyers of such cars want increased power reserve and torque”.
Von platen also noted that flagship SUV Porsche Cayenne diesel should get a modification before the end of this year. Although, last fall, the head of Porsche Oliver bloom reported that the company is considering to completely abandon engines with “heavy fuel”.
Whatever it was, and earlier this month it became known that the leadership of Porsche decided to double the size of the investment in the electrification of the model range. Instead of three billion euros, the company intends to spend six.
