Porsche has revealed the successor to the 918 Spyder

The German company has released images of the new 988 Vision.

Recent examples of the Porsche 918 Spyder were assembled in mid-2015, and this completed the production of the company’s flagship hypercar. Although everyone will hope that the successor to the hybrid vehicle will appear in the near future, this will only happen in 2025, when the brand from Stuttgart is set to release a new hypercar. The reason for the large delay is the fact that Porsche does not believe that today’s battery technology is suitable for rangefinders at this level.

And although the powertrain options for the successor to the 918 Spyder yet to be determined, Porsche already has an idea of how you might look hypercar. Actually, there are two possible ways – either design in retro style, reminiscent of the famous Porsche models, or futuristic appearance. If we assume that the company will vote for the last option, we now have a pretty good idea of how the car might look in five or six years before its actual appearance.

Independent artist Invisive proposes a design for the next-generation Porsche with a mid-engined, which uses cues from the 918 Spyder, but in General looks like in the next decade. Through a number of highly detailed visualizations it is very smooth and balanced view of hybrid (or full electric) car with excellent proportions and an aggressive stance. Massive multi spoke wheel is ideal for finely sculpted arches, a front bumper with a few air holes provides a link with the modern design language Porsche, and even reminds us of the current Macan.

Now imagine this supercar with an all-electric powertrain with a run of 621 miles (1,000 kilometers) and a capacity of more than 1000 horsepower (746 kilowatt). These figures will be possible with the integration of solid-state batteries, which are expected to be on production by the middle of next decade. Meanwhile, let’s hope that Porsche sees this rendering and take note of one or two about its design.
