In the new internal combustion engine of the Hyundai Sonata for the South Korean technology continuously variable valve duration (CVVD). Motor has 4% higher performance for 5% more fuel efficiency and emit 12% less emissions.
Presented by the engineers of the South Korean brand CVVD technology works as follows: when the car is moving with constant speed and requires little power, CVVD opens the inlet valve from the middle to the end of the compression stroke, increasing the efficiency by reducing the resistance caused by compression. When the acceleration and engine power is high, the inlet valve closes at the beginning of the compression stroke, thus maximizing the amount of air used during ignition of the fuel mixture to improve torque.
CVVD system will be presented in four-cylinder engine Smartstram G1.6 T-GDi, which develops an impressive 180 HP of power and 195 Nm of torque, and Sonata will be the first model that will use it.

Along with the CVVD, the new engine includes the exhaust gas recirculation low pressure and a new integrated system of temperature control for rapid heating and cooling of the engine up to optimum operating temperature.
