Range Rover Chieftain became more powerful and lost a pair of doors

Remember the £ 250,000 ($ 348,100) Range Rover Chieftain five-door restomode from Jensen International Automotive. This is the one with a compressor V8 6.2 (564 hp and 747 Nm) and a double wishbone suspension from Discovery 3 hiding under a classic body. And now the British have prepared a new version of Chieftain, in the name of which the word Extreme also appeared. This time the car is based on the Range Rover Classic three-door SUV, but instead of the previous filling, a custom frame and independent front and rear suspensions appeared.

The Chieftain Extreme differs from the donor in LED headlights and an additional panel in front of the radiator grill, bumpers, overlays on the arches, 18-inch alloy wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires and an exhaust system with tailpipes brought into the sills.

If the brakes of the atmospheric modification are borrowed from the powerful models of the Jaguar Land Rover concern, then the supercharged Chieftain was assigned the mechanisms of AP Racing.

And everything is built, as before, around the American engine. Now it is a V8 LS3 unit with a displacement of 6.2 liters, familiar from the Corvette C6 sports car and paired with an eight-speed “automatic”. The motor was supplemented with a drive supercharger, which increased the output to 710 hp. Alas, the dynamic and speed characteristics of the Extreme version are not disclosed, but it is known that the Chieftain with a naturally aspirated V8 LS3 with 436 hp. accelerates to 97 km / h in 5.2 seconds, and its top speed reaches 209 km / h. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but even a basic five-door restomod costs 147,500 pounds ($ 205,400).
